The Wendy Hamilton Scholarship is an annual, post-secondary school scholarship administered by the New Year’s Shooters and Mummers Museum to assist the educational aspirations of Mummers or their children or grandchildren and to further the appreciation of Mummery and its importance to the Philadelphia region. The amount of the annual award as established is $500.00.
A. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen or other legal resident of the United States of America.
B. Recipient must be (a.) a member of a recognized Mummers Club of the Philadelphia region, as determined by the New Year’s Shooters and Mummers Museum (a.k.a. Mummers Museum) and by the Division in which that club would operate, or (b.) a child or grandchild of a member of a recognized Mummers Club as defined above.
C. Recipient must be at least a high school graduate as of July 1 of the scholarship application year from a school located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware, and must be enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school in the fall of the scholarship year.
D. Current members of the Board of Directors of the Mummers Museum and their children and the staff of the Mummers Museum and their children are not eligible for the scholarship.
E. Members of the scholarship selection committee and their children are not eligible for the scholarship.
F. Significant donors to the Museum and their children are not eligible.
G. Regular members of the Mummers Museum and their children are eligible, but membership in the Museum is not a requirement to be eligible for the scholarship.
H. Past members of the Board of Directors and their children are not eligible for the scholarship if their service did not end at least 24 months prior to the award date.

I. Current Mummers Museum vendors and their children and business partners and their children are not eligible for the scholarship.
J. Former Mummers Museum vendors and their children or business partners and their children are not eligible for the scholarship if their relationship or business with the Mummers Museum did not end at least 24 months prior to the award date of the scholarship.
K. Reporting of any other real or potential conflicts of interest not listed above are the responsibility of the person applying for the scholarship award.
L. The Board of Directors and Staff of the Mummers Museum does not and will not tolerate discrimination.
III. Applications and Selection Procedures and Policies
A. The Wendy Hamilton Scholarship will be an essay, video or audio project, as determined each year by the Mummers Museum Board of Directors. Include this completed application with your entry.
B. The requirements for that entry will be posted on the Mummers Museum web site and inside the Museum.
C. The Mummers Museum will post on its web site and in the lobby of the Museum notice of the application period for the scholarship. The Museum reserves the right to post the information in newspapers and other media, in schools and in businesses.
D. Applications will be open for 2 months in each calendar year. The Mummers Museum reserves the right to change the time frame by vote of the entire Board of Directors prior to the start of the application period, as long as sufficient notice can be given on the Museum’s web site.
E. All applications, if accepted by mail, must be postmarked by the date designated in a given year’s application process as determined by the Board of Directors.
F. All applications, if accepted electronically, must be filed by close of business, 5:00 p.m. on the date designated of the scholarship application year, as established by the Board of Directors.
G. A committee of 3 individuals appointed by the Board of Directors of the Mummers Museum will review the applications and select the sole recipient (the winner) by a date determined by the Board of Directors.

H. The scholarship committee shall not be composed of current or recent past members of the Mummers Museum Board of Directors, its staff, or officers of the 5 Mummers Divisions.
I. The names of the scholarship judges shall be made public prior to the start of the application process.
J. The announcement and granting of the award will take place at the Museum at a time to be designated by the Board, but not more than 60 days after the decision is made. The decision will be posted on the Museum’s web site.
K. The decision of the committee deciding the scholarship award will be final, but can be changed by the committee if conflict of interest information or criminal violations occur prior to the issuance of the award.
IV. Scholarship Recipients or Winners
A. All Wendy Hamilton Scholarship recipients or winners agree to abide by the rules of the scholarship application and selection process and decisions.
B. All scholarship recipients agree to have their names publicized.
C. If the person receiving or winning the scholarship commits a felony after receiving the award, the Mummers Museum reserves the right to seek to declare the award null and void and to seek repayment of the scholarship.
D. The recipient assumes the responsibility of determining whether he or she bears any tax liability connected to the award.
E. All persons seeking the scholarship must sign the application form stating that they have read and understand the above rules and policies and that they agree to abide by them.
